Perfumes can cause serious Health and Environmental problems……..

A Perfume is an alcoholic solution of aromatic compounds, that is, blends of fragrant materials. The fragrant material may be of plant, animal or synthetic origin. These materials, extracted from plants are called essential oils and generally have a characteristic pleasant smell.

These essential oils contain several groups of compounds such as terpenes, aldehydes, ketones, alcohol, and ethers etc. To produce odorous compounds with smells not found in nature, many chemicals are synthesized from compounds

obtained from petroleum distillates, pine resins or cheap organic feedstock. Then fixative is added, which sustain equal evaporation rate for all components.

Another important ingredient of perfumes is the solvent which is ethanal or ethanol and water. Solvent is required for dilution because highly concentrated oils contain volatile compounds that may be too concentrated for people with allergies. We perceive the smell of perfumes because of volatile odoriferous components (VOC’s) present in them.

Since a good perfume invariably lasts for 6-8 hours, this odorous molecule persists in the air for a much longer duration than we can ever imagine! Due to this, there is overexposure to skin, upper airways and lungs and from the olfactory pathways to the brain. Once VOC’s enter the body, they affect the organ or system. Phthalate is also used in perfumes, hair sprays, deodorants, nail polishes etc, which damages the lungs, liver, kidneys and harms the developing testes of offerings.

Limonene on oxidation, forms a products, that sensitizes both lungs can damage bone narrow, causing low blood cell count and damage to liver and kidneys.

Use of large number of scents may lead to a higher degree of indoor and outdoor air pollution. It creates a smoke of VOC’s in the air. Once in the air, VOC’s can mix with other pollutants and may form substances that are even more irritating or more toxic than the original substance. Some of the chemicals used in fragrances may react with oxygen in air to peroxides, which may generate harmful free radicals.

The poor air quality further contributes to several health problems including headache, dizziness, fatigue and forgetfulness. To freshen up this stale air, freshening the air. In fact, they may be actually polluting the air. So, use perfumes with caution and in moderation, so that you don’t end up damaging your own health, as well as that of the environment around you.

Indian boy solves 350 year old Newton’s math puzzle

Lot of buzzzzz… has been created when a 16 year old Indian boy solved the puzzle which was more than 350 years old. In fact, this puzzle was put by one of the greatest scientists and mathematician of the history….Isaac Newton.

Yes!!!!!! you heard it right  , worlds greatest mathematician , Newton ‘ s puzzle was solved by 16 year old boy. Shourya Ray, from Dresden was titled a real genius when he worked on the problems of the greatest scientist Newton.

The problem which Shourya solved was on  fundamental particle dynamics . Two problem were solved by Ray on  fundamental particle dynamics theories. These problems were calculated only by the big mainframe or very powerful computers.

Effect of his solutions :

The solutions made by Ray will help the scientists to calculate flight path of a thrown ball and it will also help them to predict how  it will strike and bounce off a wall.

During a school trip, Ray noticed these problems for the first time and in fact, professors of Dresden University claimed that it was uncrackable.

“I just asked myself, ‘Why not?’,” stated Ray.

And added, “I didn’t believe there couldn’t be a solution”

Shourya started solving these difficult  and complicated problems  from the early age of 6. At that time the teachers of the school visualised his talent.

Ray fluently speaks German language in just 4 years after coming form Kolkata , four years ago.And his talents was very quickly noticed by the professors of his school and as a result he was pushed up 2 years early in his school.

The most definitive image of our planet Earth : Shot from 121 Megapixel Camera

Our beautiful planet Earth have never been seen such a clear and definitve image.

It is only due to  Electro-L, Russia’s latest weather satellite ,with the help of which we are able to see such a neat and clear image of our planet. This image is clicked from 36,000 km above the surface with the vivid and extremely rich deep blues of the oceans  and with the sharp and tidy outlines of the land and boundary surface. And yes, you can also see the white colour skies clearly in the image.

About the Camera/satellite from which this image  was shot……..

Ever wondered from which camera resolution this image would’ve been clicked???. The answer is 121 Megapixels. Yes , you heard it right this image is clicked from a 121 megapixel camera of Geostationary Satellite, Electro-L.

This image was taken at massive 121 megapixels even in one shot only. As most of the images clicked by NASA or other agencies are made by stitching many images together . Therefore this image of such a high resolution is very rare to find.

This photo clicked by the Russian Weather satellite is the highest resolution image on Earth. And therefore it is also the sharpest image available on the planet Earth.

This all was done in the latest survey of 1000 people in UK. And among them 66% of people admitted that they never want to go anywhere without their mobilephones.

Youth seems more addicted to this phobia because the youngsters aged between 18 to 24  because 77% of them say they can’t leave their mobile phone for more than few minutes while number of people who can’t leave their phone  from the age 25 to 34 are 68% .

Another fact was came into consideration that people uses their cellphone 34 times a day and 75% of people uses their mobiles in bathrooms because according to them it is the  modern alternative of newspapers…..

NASA’s spitzer detects light beyond Solar System “SUPER EARTH”………

NASA’ spitzer space telescope had created another buzz  when it detected light emanating from a any source which is beyond the solar system and yes it can be “Super Earth”.

This was for the first time that any source is found beyond the solar system.

According to Bill Danchi, Spitzer program scientist at NASA Headquarters “Spitzer has amazed us yet again”.

The planet named as 55 Cancri e  , falls into the category of planets called Super Earth. These Super Earth planets are more bigger and massive than our home planet Earth but are not as big as the giant-like planet Neptune.

This new planet 55 Cancri e is about double the size of our planet Earth and eight times as massive as Earth and moreover it will orbit a bright star called 55 Cancri e. In this new study Spitzer measured the amount of Infrared planets that is coming from the planet.

This new system i.e.  55 Cancri e system is not so far away from the Earth that is only about 41 light years away.

It also has five planets that are very close to the Earth and is tidally locked therefore every side will face a star .

Google gets license of world’s first self driven car in Nevada……..

Self Driven cars from Google will soon become very popular in the streets of  Nevada , when the state’s Department of  Motor Vehicles approved the license of World’s First Autonomous Vehicle on  monday .

This all was approved when Officials drove the car on the highways , in Carlson City neighbourhoods and also along the very famous Las Vegas part.

These new technological cars from google runs with the help of sensors, lasers, radar sensors , video cameras and database of information which collected separately from manually driven cars to help navigation.

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles approved Toyota Prius  which was modified by Google with its driver-less technology. These cars from Google had crossed Golden Gate Bridge and had also been driven along the beautiful Pacific Coastway.

According to Bruce Breslow, director of  Department Of Vehicle , Nevada these cars from Google  can be rightly called the ” Car of the Future “.

Another thing is that ” Most of the vehicle accidents are due to the human errors and through the utilization of  radar sensors , video cameras and other systems , this self driven vehicle will help in analyzing the driving environment more quickly and more safely “.

Facebook Addiction Test – Dare to open it……………

Recent news is that a new test is made according to which your addiction rate to Facebook is determined. Scientists have discovered  a Facebook Addiction Test which tells that how much you are addicted to the popular social networking giant by answering just six simple questions……

facebook 2012,facebook users in 2012,facebook 845 million, facebook largest social network

The test which is published in the very popular Psychological Reports journal  depends upon the concept of “six core elements of addiction “. These six elements will surely tell your addiction rate to Fb. These elements are withdrawal, tolerance , salience , mood modification , conflict  and relapse .

In fact the same test is used to test the Alcohol Addiction.

This test is done in an objective type manner. User will be given six questions and each question will be scaled to 1 – 5 , 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

These questions are as follows :

  • You spend a lot of time thinking about Facebook or plan use of Facebook
  • You feel an urge to use Facebook more and more
  • You use Facebook in order to forget about personal problems
  • You have tried to cut down on the use of Facebook without success
  • You become restless or troubled if you are prohibited from using Facebook
  • You use Facebook so much that it has had a negative impact on your job/studies

Score 4 or more on at least 4 of these questions ? Then you could (may be not)  be addicted to Facebook……

This test was compiled by the at least 1000 students , from University of  Gothenburg, Sweden which has concluded that 85% of the students who had given test were FB addicted and 50 % admitted that Facebook.com  is the first website they run after booting up.
