Techkriti’15 is giving the prestigious opportunity to the budding engineers of this nation to gain some real scientific perspective. It has arranged for talks from highly renowned people who are stalwarts in their respective field:

Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman, ISRO. Also the former chairman of the Indian Institutes of Engineering Science and Technology, he is a life fellow of the Indian Geophysical Union.

The much debated question of whether God exists remains unanswered but that of the God particle has been answered. To deal with this hot topic of science, Techkriti’15 has invited none other than the co-founder of the Higgs Boson Particle, Dr. Carl R. Hagen. An alumni of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he is also a fellow of the American Physical Society. He has been the recipient of the Department’s Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. We will be having him as the speaker on the very first day of Techkriti’15.

What more than to have a noble laureate grace the occasion. Sir Anthony Leggett, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his pioneering work on to the theory of superconductors and superfluids. He currently serves as the chief scientist at the Institute for Condensed Matter Theory.

Dr. Peter C. Schultz, Inventor, Fiber Optics, Peter C. Schultz, Ph.D. (b. 1942), is co-inventor of the fiber optics now used worldwide for telecommunications. He is retired President of Heraeus Tenevo Inc., a $200 million technical glass manufacturer and retired Chief Technical Officer North America for Heraeus Holding GmbH (the $6 billion German parent company).

The car fans will also be satiated. Dillip Chhabaria, Founder, DC Design, has been a trailblazer, and a pioneering personality in the field of automotive design. He is also credited with designing the car used in the movie Taarzan: The Wonder Car and also the Aston Martin Vanquish which appeared in the James Bond movie Die Another Day . He will be part of the Auto Expo too.

The National Geographic fans are in for a treat. Pat Spain, TV Host- Beast Hunter, Nat Geo. Apart from his world famous shows ‘Nature Calls’ and of course the ‘Beast Hunter’, he is also a wildlife scientist, cancer survivor and a 12 year veteran of the biotech industry.

Dr. David Hilmers, Former Astronaut, NASA. A veteran of four space flights, he has logged over 493 hours in space and is currently enrolled as a medical student at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Space enthusiasts, certainly a talk to look forward to!

Ramamurti Shankar is the John Randolph Huffman Professor of Physics at Yale University, in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr.Shankar, an alumni of IIT Madras, was awarded the Julius Edgar Lilienfeld Prize from the American Physical Society. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

2. Ant Robots, a taste of Artificial Intelligence: A group of 12 small coordinated robots with wide future applications.
3. Kanpur ordnance factory will be bringing weapons and shells for exhibition.
4. Ultra-ever dry: A product to make surfaces, water repellent.
5. Human Face Mapping: Projection technology from Portugal for projecting images on human face.

Social Campaigns : A quintessential part of Techkriti’15

Blueprint to a smarter planet, the underlying theme of Techkriti’15 not only focuses on technology but also on society. Scientific advancement has always been the need of the hour but that does not rule out the fact that it is the people who will benefit from it. In order to have a smart planet we need to have smarter and healthier people. This initiative has been taken up by the technological and entrepreneurial festival of IIT Kanpur.

This Christmas Techkriti became Santa Claus, when our ‘Campaigns’ team visited Subhash Children Home, an orphanage in Kanpur and came up with an idea to see what could make these children real happy. “Make A Wish” campaign surely brought that ever so rare smile on their little faces when they had their wishes fulfilled by our team.

Teen suicide is a growing concern in every educational institution in India. Techkriti in association with Counselling Service, IIT Kanpur conducted a talk on Suicide prevention by Vikram Singh, an Indian educationist and a retired IPS officer which marked the launch of our campaign “#IamStrong“.

Continuing with our Health Campaign, an Oral Hygiene Free Dental Check Up camp was organised in IIT Kanpur, where pointers were given as to how to keep up one’s wonderful smile.

“Donate your blood for a reason, let the reason be life”. In keeping with this spirit Techkriti organized a Blood Donation Camp in association with Blood Connect, as a part of its Health Campaign at Rave Moti Mall, Kanpur on 17th October, 2014.

We had started a green revolution of our own. Techkriti in association with CUGL as the Official Campaign partner, organized Prakriti, Adopt a Tree social campaign by distributing thousands of saplings to the locals in the malls of Kanpur.

What more noble than to provide a blanket to that shivering person on the street.
Techkriti in association with The Logical Indian conducted an Annual Winter Donation Drive during the winters as a part of its Campaign. We donated blankets and winter clothes to the needy homeless people. The objective was to encourage more and more people to indulge in such activities.

Techkriti 2015 IIT Kanpur : Everything you need to know

Techkriti is the annual inter-college technology and entrepreneurship festival organized by the students of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. The first ever Techkriti was organised in 1995, and has since grown into one of the largest technical festivals in Asia. This celebration of creativity is held over four days every March, attracting participants from all over of the country as well as from abroad, with an average footfall of over 30,000.

This techno-bonanza witnesses fierce, neck to neck competitions in various fields, such as Robotics, Electronics, Business, Design, Coding, Aero-modelling; Online events (Crypto, Stocksim etc.) as well as Rubik’s Cube. We also have Guest Lectures by esteemed personalities who are well known stalwarts in their respective fields and Exhibitions, that never fail to ignite in students, the passion for innovation. In an attempt to add another feather to its cap, Techkriti, this year has decided to extend its aura to young children as well. We, at Techkriti, encourage innovation at its purest forms and what best way to celebrate raw intelligence than to go pro-school! This year, Techkriti is organising Techkriti Open School Championship.

In the past, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (Ex-President and Founder of India’s missile program), Richard Stallman (Founder, FSF and GNU Project), Vladimir Voevodsky (Fields Medalist from Russia), Douglas Osheroff (Nobel Laureate-Physics), Michael Foreman (NASA Astronaut),Marshall Strabala (Architect-Burj Khalifa), Jeff Liebermann (Host-Time Warp), Victor Hayes (Father of Wi-Fi), Walter Lewin (Astrophysicist, MIT), Rakesh Sharma (Astronaut, India), Linor Abargil (Former Miss World), Hans Rosling (Data Visionary and Global Health Expert), Alvin E Roth (Nobel Laureate, Economics), P.Sainath (Rural Affairs Editor, The Hindu), amongst the others, have gracefully agreed to address the students and academia during the festival.

Techkriti hosts one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in India. By showcasing exhibits of diverse genres from all over the world, it seeks to create a mesmerizing experience for everyone visiting; irrespective of age or interests. World’s most advanced and recent technologies built in the foremost research facilities like DARwIn-OP (Humanoid from Korea), Nao robot (France), E-Velolink (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), Robolobster and Robolamprey (Northeastern University, USA), Augmented Reality Pool (Queens’ University, CA), along with India’s superior defence technology exhibited by the DRDO never cease to fascinate the audience. In the endless list of exhibits also belong Mogees (UK), The Decelerator Helmet (Germany), and The Virtual Archery (Tokyo University, Japan) that have been successful in creating an indulging experience for the public.

Every year, Techkriti, with its social campaigns addresses one major issue prevailing in the world at large. Techkriti’13 was the first Carbon positive festival of India. The previous year, Techkriti’14 celebrated the International Women’s Day by launching a novel campaign seeking to bring in a wave of women empowerment – “When Women Were: Awakening the nation to the plight of the Indian woman”. Keeping in mind, the growing figures pertaining to teen suicides among engineering students in India, this year we, at Techkriti, have started off with our Teen Suicide Prevention Campaign “#IamStrong” to minimize, and if possible, eradicate the teenage suicides in India.

In the wake of the 21st century world, brimming with technocrats and entrepreneurs, Techkriti enters its 21st edition; a bigger and better version, all set to inspire the soon to be the engineers.
